Let’s hope that Jennifer Jason Leigh wasn’t simply another woman that Andy banged (on a washing machine, in this case). The actress was hilarious and ideally suited as Nancy’s sister during her two episode run on Weeds. Will we see her again?

Hopefuily, says series creator Jenji Kohan.

“We loved having Jennifer on the show and were dazzled by her performance and her chemistry with our cast. We have no idea when she’ll be back, but we’d love to have her return if our story and her schedule align. Fingers crossed.”

Meanwhile, another big guest star will debut next week, on the episode titled “Van Nuys.” Alanis Morisette comes aboard as Nancy’s new obstetrician.

Nancy’s world continued to fall apart during this episode of Weeds. First, let’s discuss her sons:

Shane tries to sell a boatload worth of pot to his teacher, $4,000 worth, to be exact. It’s clear this educator is a first-class jerk and he proves as much by driving away with the marijuana without paying Shane. We have a feeling the youngest Botwin will plot revenge against this law-breaker.

Meanwhile, Silas and Doug have better luck with their venture. After initially being turned down by a woman that’s renting out her dry cleaning store, their new friend (and business partner), the town sheriff, steps in and seals the deal. They now have a location for their medical marijuana store.

While all this is going down, Andy is trying to be brave. He offers to serve as Nancy’s bodyguard, but is laughed at by Esteban. As a result, he tries to work out in the garage and bulk up, and guess what he finds tucked inside an old boxing glove of Judah’s: a bank account book.

Turns out Judah has $186,000 hidden in an account. When Andy goes to the bank and pretends to be his late brother, though, he’s in for a surprise: the teller knew Judah and is incredibly broken up about his death, once Andy informs her of it. Later, as these two sit by the beach, the lady agrees to help Andy get the money, under one freaky condition: they date, and Andy pretends to be his brother.

Finally, on to Nancy: her actual bodyguard comes across Agent Roy Till lurking outside. Once both these men’s backs are turned, though, Nancy electrecutes them and ties them up. There’s just one problem: who does she free? Whichever men is let loose freely admits that he’ll kill the other.

Adding to her stress is the fact that Celia shows up. When she requests to crash on Nancy’s porch, Nancy throws her out of the house by flicking lit matches in her direction. These two are great together.

Unable to decide what to do with her two captured men, Nancy calls Esteban. He comes over, happy because he’s learned that Nancy is having a boy. Late in the episode, we see Nancy’s Mexican bodyguard walking around, leaving viewers to assume that Till is dead.

Pleased with the news of his son, Esteban actually embraces Nancy on the beach as the episode comes to an end. She seems to accept and almost enjoy it, but we’d like to assume it’s just a case of her playing games with the drug lord, as she tries to think up a way out of the situation.

Weeds - Who’s Next to Die?

By admin · Comments (0)

Within the first three episodes, we learned that Esteban (Demián Bichir) isn’t going to be putting Nancy (Mary-Louise Parker) in her grave anytime soon. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t major trouble ahead for Nancy.

DEA Captain Roy Till (Jack Stehlin) returns, killing off one of our favorite new characters (R.I.P. Su-Su-Sucio) and kicking off a revenge mission to hunt down anyone who might have been involved in the torture and murder of his lover, Agent Phil Schlatter (Andrew Rothenberg).

However, in his attempts to get justice, it may be Roy Till who ends up six feet under. So who’s on his hit list? We caught up with Stehlin and asked him just that. Find out what he reveals…

When Roy comes out of the shadows, one of his first pieces of business is to “confront Nancy,” he says. His reason for tracking Nancy down? She’s the center piece of the drug cartel, being pregnant with Esteban’s baby, and they killed Till’s lover. Bottom line: Don’t mess with a scorned D.E.A. agent.

“Till’s perspective is that he doesn’t know who it is, but it’s very likely that Nancy is involved,” he tells us. ”He suspects Nancy deeply. He’s sure that there’s Mexican cartel involved, and he’s convinced that she knows who they are. Till will do anything at this point. I think he really is off the edge. I think his heart was broken, and he’s in a fury. Also, the kind of man he is and the life he lives, it’s a dangerous world. He’s capable of violence.”

And don’t think Nancy being pregnant will stop Till from trying to take her down. Truth be told, he doesn’t actually know she has a bun in the oven. “He may come to find out, but from where the plot was at the end of the last season and the beginning of this season, he has no idea that she’s pregnant,” he says.

So who’s in danger? Teases Stehlin, “I think it’s possible he could go after anyone. I think he has some kind of grip that Nancy is the most involved with the dangerous part of it. He’s not playing the good lawman anymore. It’s past that. It’s true revenge and really knowing that these are the people who are responsible.”

But don’t worry, there won’t be any kidnapping of the Botwins coming up: “My feeling is that he knows that [Andy] and the sons and [Doug] are on a different level of harmlessness.”

While Stehlin tells us to expect more deaths this season, we have a sneaking suspicion that he may be next to meet his maker. Says Stehlin, “He’s living in a dangerous world. I think anybody living in that world—well, anything can happen. I don’t think anything can slow him down. Something’s going to happen. In the end, doesn’t everyone have to die except the family? How long can Till last? How long can Esteban last before it breaks?”

Who do you think is not long for this life? Hit the comments with which character you want to see get whacked next.

Weeds - Casting News

By admin · Comments (0)

July 13 will be a lucky day for sexy Latina Kate del Castillo (PBS’s American Family). That’s the date she joins the cast of Showtime’s Weeds, playing Pilar Guzman, who drives a wedge into Nancy’s (Mary Louise Parker) relationship with her unborn baby’s father, Esteban (Demian Bichir). The Mexican actress gave TV Guide Magazine the lowdown on the new character while hanging out at a Los Angeles dogo park with her mini pinscher, Lola.

Congratulations on Weeds. Some of us remember you from American Family. Was there ever any pot smoking on that?
Kate: Only the actors.

Awesome! How long’s your run on Weeds?
Kate: I already shot three episodes (6, 8 and 9) and I think my next one is going to be the last one of the season.

What’s the role?
Kate: I play Pilar Guzman. She’s a classy, powerful, strong woman who is going to be shaking up the relationship between Nancy and Esteban. She’s a wealthy woman who inherited a lot of money.

I’ve heard she’s a drug lord.
Kate: Yes, kind of. I think this is the first time in five seasons that Mary-Louise’s character will have to deal with a bad woman – and I don’t necessarily mean drug dealing. At first, I don’t even look at her. I don’t like the relationship she has with Esteban – for business reasons.

Is Weeds shown in your native Mexico?
Kate: Now they’re showing the fourth season and everyone loves it.

You are also starring in an online telenovela for Univision.com.
Kate: Yes. It’s called Vidas Cruzadas, which means Crossed Life. There are 15 episodes that are between five and seven minutes each – starting in August. They look like little movies. The theme is artificial insemination. My character has had it with men and wants to be a mom as soon as possible, so she goes and gets artificially inseminated and then the next day meets the love of her life.

Would you ever get artificially inseminated?
Kate: I thought about it, but I think I’d rather adopt.

Until then you have little Lola.
Kate: Oh yes.. she keeps me very busy.

Weeds - Justin Kirk + Spoilers

By admin · Comments (0)

With Nancy Botwin (Mary-Louise Parker) knocked up with a drug lord’s son, the D.A. out to get her, and Celia (Elizabeth Perkins) stuck in Mexico with no apparent way out, this season looks bleak for the Ren Mar-via-Agrestic clan.

“We’ve become a pretty bleak show, which I like,” says Justin Kirk, who plays Andy Botwin. “I think it’s kind of fun. I don’t see a lot of hope, but we do have another season, so I’m guessing we’re not going down in a hail of bullets any time soon.”

No hail of bullets, maybe, but a ton of personal drama goes down as the season unfolds, and Justin was kind enough to fill us in a bit…

BefEditor: Articleore we get to Weeds, what made you decide to do the University of Andy webisodes?
Last season, we had this Good Morning Agrestic fake public access show online and that did really well, so the marketing peeps came up with this idea to have me in character teaching different things in five-minute episodes. We have five up now and did 12 total, including “How to Start a Band,” “How to Satisfy a Woman,” “How to Survive a Bear Attack” and others.

Which is your favorite?

The one with Kevin Nealon: “How to Score with Foreign Girls.” Anything with Kevin is hilarious.

Everyone’s talking about Alanis Morissette’s seven-episode stay on Weeds. Do Andy and her character, Dr. Audra Kitson (for more info, click here), become boyfriend-girlfriend?
Ah, it’s spoilers you want. I don’t even tell my mother this stuff. I’ll tell you the truth: At this point, she’s only shot a couple of episodes, maybe three for far, and honestly I don’t know what the writers are going to do until we get the scripts. I hear where it may be going, but they change their minds a lot.

We already know you have some sort of fling with her.

Well, if you bring an attractive female of note onto our program, odds are she will be rolling around with me.

What is her character like?

Well, she’s a monster in real life. No, she’s shockingly pleasant, and it’s been a delight to work with her. Her character, as we know, is Nancy’s ob-gyn, and she’s very nurturing and very good at what she does. And then she becomes fascinated and interested in the goings-on with Nancy and the rest of us, and she wants to see what happens next. But she doesn’t have anything to do with any illicit activities, except for—well, you’ll have to watch.

We hear she gets nude in an episode. Do dish.
I read that as well. I have no idea where that info comes from. It may or may not be true. I haven’t asked her, “Hey, I read on the Internet that you’re going to be nude. I hope I’m going to be there.” But I will say it’s a good sign that stuff gets printed that is not in any way related to the truth— like Mary-Louise leaving the show. It means we’re of note at this point.

Last we saw, Doug (Kevin Nealon) and Silas (Hunter Parrish) were talking about opening a pot store. Does that happen?
Yes. Indeed, Silas and Doug do start a medicinal marijuana dispensary this year. It goes pretty strong. This one is a pretty lengthy storyline. But you know what’s funny, there’s not a lot of pot smoking going on onscreen this season.

What about offscreen?
I’ll tell you the truth, there is less pot smoking on the set of Weeds than most jobs I’ve had. It’s a pretty chaste place.

Where does the story with Andy and Nancy go?
I don’t know what’s going to happen. But I like exploring that world. I would like that relationship to go on. I think their relationship, whether it’s consummated or not, remains to be seen. But it’s one that is a lot of fun to do, and I like working with Mary-Louise, so I hope it goes on. Sometimes it’s heartbreaking and sometimes it’s funny.

What about Andy and Jennifer Jason Leigh’s character, Jill? You hooked up last time we saw her—what’s next?
It will go further. She’s only with us for another episode, so we only have sex five more times that you see. We would love to have her back. There’s always a chance of people returning.

What can you tell us about Kate del Castillo’s character?
She is a hard-core woman who does not seem to be particularly thrilled with Nancy’s presence. And I believe it gets in the way of Esteban’s burgeoning political career.

Who else might be returning?

Actually, we have an old Weeds favorite who returns to the show this year. I was so excited to see that in the script. There, that’s a big spoiler.

So, which past Weeds favorite do you think is returning? Post your guesses in the comments below.
