Broadway Plucks Mary-Louise Parker from Weeds

star Mary-Louise Parker already treads on dangerous territory as the pot-growing Nancy Botwin. This winter, she’ll be taking on another edgy role as Hedda Gabler in a Broadway revival of Henrik Ibsen’s classic play.
Starting January 25, Parker will be starring in the new production from the Roundabout Theater Company, the AP reports.
While Parker has become known for her turn on Weeds – which won her an Emmy nomination this year and a past Golden Globe – she’s no stranger to the stage. She also won a Tony for her role in Proof, and last year she appeared off-Broadway in the play Dead Man’s Cell Phone.
For Weeds fans, Broadway might be a good next stop: Hunter Parrish, who plays Nancy’s son Silas on the show, will be hitting the stage himself this fall in Spring Awakening – giving some of us just one more reason to buy our tickets to the Big Apple. – Anna Dimond
